About Us.
The Spearwood Methodist Church was built on the site at 330 Rockingham Road Spearwood in 1913 by James and Arthur Hines at a cost of 175 pounds. This was the first public building to be erected in the district and was opened and dedicated on Saturday 13th June 1914, by Rev Brian Wibberley and assisted by Rev CA Jenkins who was the president and secretary of The Conference.
The significance of the Church stood for: Divine Worship, Christian Fellowship and Human Service.
On the 22nd June 1977, the Methodist, Presbyterian and Congregational churches united under the Bases of Union and became known as The Uniting Church of Australia.
Over the years, Spearwood Church has been affiliated with different Parishes and Circuits. After nearly 30 years with Fremantle Wesley Mission, we became an independent Congregation of the Uniting Church on 1st October 2017.
The continuing history of this church’s significance is the faithfulness and generosity of its members, families and volunteers, alongside the people of the City of Cockburn. They serve with an open heart of Christian fellowship and as a public witness, for the Glory of God.
